Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary: PageNote stores your notes on your own device. We do not collect, sell, or share any personal information. The only external contact the extension makes is to verify a Pro license key you explicitly enter.

What we collect

PageNote does not collect any personal data. We do not have access to your notes, browsing history, or any information about the websites you visit.

The only data stored is:

Your notes and their settings (color, style, position) — stored locally on your device
Your note style preference (Liquid or Post-it) — stored locally
Your Pro license key, if you activate Pro — stored locally and used only to re-verify your license

Local storage

All notes are stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage API, which keeps data on your device. Notes associated with a page are stored under that page's URL as a key. This data is never transmitted to any server operated by PageNote.

If you uninstall the extension, chrome.storage.sync data (preferences and license key) is deleted. chrome.storage.local data (notes) may be retained by Chrome; you can clear it from Chrome's extension settings.

License verification

If you purchase a Pro license, the license key you enter is sent to Gumroad's API solely to verify its validity. No other information is transmitted. Gumroad's own privacy policy governs that interaction.

We do not store your license key on any server. It remains on your device only.

Third parties

PageNote does not use analytics, advertising networks, or any third-party tracking. The only third-party service contacted is Gumroad, and only when you explicitly activate a Pro license key.

Permissions

PageNote requests the following Chrome permissions and uses them only as described:

storage — to save your notes and settings on your device
activeTab — to display notes on the current webpage
tabs — to read the current page URL and open reminder-linked pages
alarms — to trigger reminder notifications at the time you set
notifications — to show reminder alerts via Chrome's notification system

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of PageNote after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
